Square Hoop showcases Active Service Catalogues in TM Forum’s Catalyst Program at Management World Americas

23 November 2009 -  London

London – Square Hoop’s Vazir Active Catalogue will showcase at TM Forum’s sponsored Management World Americas Exposition and Conference in December.  Square Hoop will present within the Forumville area of the expo as part of the Collaborated E2E Operation and Service management Catalyst Program, alongside other vendor partners Aaksi Technologies, Booz Allen Hamilton, DAX Technologies Corp, IPsphere Forum and Progress Software.

Catalyst Program members will demonstrate how network service providers can create, provision and assure the quality and reliability of new offerings by assembling new end user services from existing underlying service and resource components, presented through active catalogues and inventory systems. Further, visitors to the program will be able to see how the health and usage of services across networks and service providers are monitored.

Martin Creaner, President and CTO of TM Forum, commented: “In an industry that increasingly depends on the complex products and services federated from multiple sources, Active Catalogue management is becoming crucially important.  Square Hoop is taking a leadership role in cost effective Active Catalogue management”

TM Forum’s Catalyst Program addresses the complexities of bringing together a wide range of solutions to emerging challenges by bringing service providers, system integrators and hardware/software vendors together to create ground breaking solutions. Multi-company, multi-national teams work in a collaborative environment to solve some of the most pressing business challenges within the CSP industry. The Catalyst demonstration is designed within the NGOSS concepts and is based on its principles.

The demonstration of Management and System Network Interoperability showcases a policy-based management system, focused on terrestrial networks owned and operated by different entities to support E2E connectivity, including space communications. To achieve this, Square Hoop apply and extend common industry frameworks beyond traditional usage, such as the TM Forum’s New Generation Operations Systems and Software (NGOSS) Business Process & Information frameworks and the IPsphere framework. Policy management is used to automatically re-configure communication paths and create policy based service instances.

Square Hoop will provide the Active Service Catalogue and product lifecycle management (PLM) toolset, to enable policy-driven development and instantiation of services in a dynamic environment.  The Square Hoop VAZIR Active Catalogue will receive services published from the service catalogues of multiple parties, and enable Mission Planning users to combine these functions into more complex policy-driven services. VAZIR will be used to activate network services based on event mechanisms of the distributed system, service, and network policies.  It will provide the ability to create, manage and distribute these policies to various points in the system.

Mark Watson, VP of Product Management at Square Hoop, said: “The Catalyst Program demonstration will show how the Defence Industry and all Communication Service Providers (CSP) could benefit from the use of Active Catalogues.  VAZIR Active Catalogue’s powerful creation and control environment allows CSPs to manage the entire lifecycle of product, service and resource components existing within their own networks and within those of external providers.  This enables operators to create new product offerings for their local customers, as well as for the customers of external operators by leveraging and combining multi-network services and product offerings into new offers.”
